BRC at the European debut


On Transilvania Rally roads from 4th to 6th of May

BRC Gas Equipment will have its official rally 2017 season debut on Romanian roads. From May 4th to 6th at Cluj-Napoca the Transilvania Rally, valid as Tour European Rally 2017 first round, will take place.

The returning Italian Champions Giandomenico Basso and Lorenzo Granai will fight for defending the BRC Gas Equipment colours, driving the new Hyundai I20 R5.

“We are excited about getting this rally started” says Giandomenico Basso. “We proved our and our team’s worth in Italy. Now we are ready to take on this challenge to help spread the BRC Gas Equipment brand abroad”.

Basso adds: “The emotion of running an international race is growing more and more every passing minute. I’m familiar with some Ter 2017 routes, but the Romanian one is totally new, as regards both itinerary and car. Anyway, I’m confident about the race, as my first impression testing the new Hyundai I20R5 was absolutely positive. We should get quickly the right feeling to be competitive since now in this championship that, I believe, will be rich in combative drivers and high quality cars. I think that Romanian and International Series organisations are making a great job, proving their professionalism and the quality of this FIA championship”.

Transilvania Rally will start at Cluj-Napoca on Thursday May 4th at 20h00 with an opening ceremony at the Cluj Arena. On Friday 5th, at 16h50, the first special stage of the four ones of the day will start, covering 185.01 km, of which 67.95 km timed.

On Saturday May 6th, starting from 09h08, the remaining 10 stages will be run, covering 322,88 km, of which 91,67 km timed. The award ceremony will be held at Casino di Clui at 21h00.

Every TER 2017 competition assigns the following points to define the European series absolute rank: 1° place 25 pts, 2° 18 pts, 3° 15 pts, 4° 12 pts, 5° 10 pts, 6° 8 pts, 7° 6 pts, 8° 4 pts, 9° 2 pts, 10° place and more 1 pt.

Each event also foresees a Special Stage assigning some additional points to the 5 fastest drivers. For the debut race, all eyes on special stage n. 13, Dangau 2 11,99 km long, assigning the following points: 1° place 5 pts, 2° 4 pts, 3° 3 pts, 4° 2 pts, 5° 1 pt.
